Exclamation BES 5.1 SQL Connection Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all, first post, though I have browsed here quite a bit.

A couple of months ago we installed BES 5.1, with very little struggle. But the database was installed to an existing instance of MSSQL 2005, created by our backup software, Symantec Backup Exec.

We replaced Backup Exec with Acronis B&R for SBS, and uninstalled Backup Exec.

Backup exec deleted it's instance of the MSSQL server, and took the BES DB with it, taking down our BES in the process.

I pulled up a recent backup in a VM, exported the BES DB, and restored it to a new instance of SQL, but now trying to reinstall BES it cannot access the Database, reporting "An attempt to connect to the database was unsuccessful. Refer to the installation log file for more information"

The .log file in C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Logs\Installer says the following (Edited to remove identifying data)

Default

Turns out, Named pipes and TCP were disabled. I quick looked and saw them in the SQL Configuration and figured they were there and all was well, later looked to the right and saw them disabled, enabled them and we were good to go.

Thanks anyway!
