BPS Upgrade Path

Hi there,

One of my clients is using Blackberry Professional Server (4.1.4 on Lotus Domino 7.0.2) They have 5 users. I need a 6th. I wanted to purchase an extra CAL but got told by our supplier that BPS isn't supported any more so I cant have a CAL. Is this correct?

That then leads on to: What do I need to upgrade to in order to get my extra user going and how do I do it?

If anyone has any ideas I would be most greatful.

Kind regards,

Re: BPS Upgrade Path

You can still buy the CAL for BPS. Just get a BES CAL from here
https://www.blackberry.com/purchaseonline/Login.jspx

or you can get BES 5 express for free.

Ah Knottyrope! I knew you would reply!

Interesting! I'll see if I can get a CAL from there. Thanks!

With the upgrade, you are saying that I should be able to do an In Place Upgrade using BES Express? Will my BPS CALs still work?

Kind regards,

ok so you are really saying, uninstall BPS, fire up and install BES Express as the CALs are free (yes, you said free....and least 3 times :D ) but as the phones still have the full BES Provisioning enabled they will still be able to do a wireless activation? (this is important as the Blackberry users are about 1000 miles from the office). I ask as I know with BES Express when using the BIS data plan rather than the full BES you can only to a USB activation...

Kind regards,

Kind regards,

They can use BIS or BES, BES dataplan is the only one that can do OTA EA. Any data plan can do a wired EA with BES Express 5.
