Default Lync 2010 with BES 5 SP3

Please Login to Remove!

Guy's,

Anyone got this to work yet?

I have installed it and all the services start ok no errors in the logs when it starts.

Reports a successful setting up of the connection to Lync.

But from the device i get cannot connect to server.......

All logging i can find is turned right up, but no errors are logged.

Can the enterprise Messenger client for 2007 be used for connecting to Lync?

Thanks.

Hi
Yeah we did manage to get it setup. Security did complain about the weird way the certificate have to be generated though.
We had it running against the Legacy OCS. I installed the prereq according to RIM's guide, ran the SP3 setup and it pretty much worked straight away, except I were pointing to the wrong queue so had to redo the config (Too early in the morning) including obtain another certificate.
However each time my device connects for initial login I get an UMCA exception thrown at me in the logs on the BES server. However IM works fine.

You mention OCS?

Have you got it working with Lync 2010?

Also how did you obtain the cert?

The OCS were the old setup from the previous Office Communicator 2007.
I followed the guide from here:

docs.blackberry.com/en/admin/subcategories/?userType=2&category=BlackBerry+Enterprise+Server+ for+Microsoft+Exchange
and picked the Installation and configuration guide (page 38).

I can't post URL's yet.

Due some restrictions on our network I couldn't follow the instructions for generating the certificate but our Security guys generated it with the details per the guide.

I just upgraded to SP3 last night and we have Lync 2010 and I have the same problem as you.

If I put in the wrong password, I get a bad password error. If I have the right password, it just says, "Failed to login to server" or "Cannot connect to server".

I found an error in the event log; A User Endpoint for URI: sip:oderus@email.com could NOT be established. RealTimeException msg: Unable to establish a connection., inner exception.

Our BesAdmin account is a member of RTCUniversalServerAdmins as well as RTCComponentsUniversalServices.

I may end up calling RIM as their documention is pretty bad.

Thumbs up Re: Lync 2010 with BES 5 SP3

Figured it out but I'm not sure how it happened.

What I had to do was re-do the process of setting up the certificate on the BES.

KB24960-How to request a TLS certificate to allow the BlackBerry Collaboration Service to communicate with Microsoft Office Communicator Server 2007 R2 or 2010

I did this last night and although I got no errors, it wasn't working. I checked my certificate and found that the Subject/Common Name was blank. O_o

Once I re-did my cert with the Subject/CN, it worked right away.

Guy's,

Thanks for your help, found the issue.

Dispatcher instances both set to standby, set to primary all works, great.

Andy.

i found the rim instructions pretty hopeless as well as far as the ssl certificate is concerned as well. I am getting fed up with all these SAN certificates for exchange, lync and now bes as well. just hard to keep up with expiry dates etc. anyway does anyone use self signed certificates for the bes / lync integration? i guess i could go to godaddy.com again but as one of the SAN names has already been used in the SAN certificate for the lync server i cannot setup a new SAN certificate with the same lync name.

also installing the other prerequisites was pretty painful in terms of finding the OCS 2007 r2 server as we never had that version so had to find it from a variety of sources.

hope i will be able to get it to work
