Default Advice on Upgrade strategy

Please Login to Remove!

Guys

I was hoping someone could give me some advice on an upgrade strategy.
We currently run BES 5.0 in High Availability with a single backend SQL2000 database.

We are looking to Patch up to BES service pack 3, however the release notes mention SQL 2000 is no longer supported. The database sits on a SQL 2000 server with other production databases so upgrading the SQL version on that server is not an option.

Is it possible to move the database to let's say SQL 2008 express (free version) without having to introduce a new front end BES server and move users over.
if so what steps would I need to take.

Any advice is greatly appreciated
