Default Recreate Database?

Please Login to Remove!

So we have a BES installed on a server with the blackberry database on MSDE. Unfortunetly MSDE on that server was also being used for a line of business application. As part of an upgrade to the line of business application the recently fired vendor of the app decided it was okay to just delete MSDE completely in favour of SQL express and killed the BES database in the process.

We could restore from backups but don't really want to go back to MSDE, we'd prefer to stick with SQL Express.

We're a really small shop with only 5 devices and we'd be okay with starting fresh with a new database based on SQL Express so we're looking for a way to just create a database and hook up the current BES install to it. Is this possible or do we need to re-install the BES from scratch.

Thanks in advance for your help.

With such a small installation of 5 users... just re-install everything and start over.
(Back up the user's handhelds first, just in case.)

And.... Bill the other software vendor for the time it takes you to do the work!

With only 5, start from scratch and do it the way you want.

What they said.

You would spend more time trying to restore the db than to re-activate 5 users.

are the mdf and ldf files really gone?
uninstall of MSDE doesnt remove the database files, but SQL express will be named different when you try to access it

Also the permissions might be incorrect for the database
