Default Moving from SBS03 to SBS11

Please Login to Remove!

I need to shift a BESX install (5.0.2) that resides on a member server running only SQL and the environment is SBS2003. We're migrating it to SBS11 (Exchange 2010 SP1) and I'm trying to research what I need to change in order for the BB's to look at the new SBS11. The BESX software will stay on the same server, I just need to tell it instead of pointing to OLDSERVEr, point to NEWSERVER.

I've searched around come across this link that sounds like the solution, although it applies to BES:

KB22601-How to migrate from Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or 2007 to Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 in a BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 environment

Looking to get some feedback if this is the correct procedure.

Thanks

SBS 11 is not supported yet.

You can install a VM on it thought with Server 08 to install BES

I've already got BES installed on a Server 08, I just need to tell it to look at a different mailserver I would have thought?

then the DOC you supplied should work for you, you dont point BES to exchange. You do however need to specify the BESAdmin MAPI pofile which is covered in that doc.

AD tells BES where to look for the users mailbox.

Yup, thats exactly what I'm thinking. The MAPI profile on BESSERVER will be pointing to OLDSERVER, I just need to apply the proper permissions on the new Exchange 2010 server for BESadmin and change the MAPI profile to NEWSERVER.

If you did a migration from 2003 to 2011, and, during this migration, moved the mailboxes from the old to the new exchange server, then you only have to go through the parts of the installation for the BES which relate to exchange 2010.
After this, open the BES control-panel (logged in as the besadmin user), and, under the tab "Blackberry-Server" click the "edit mapi profile" button, and verify the settings.
Reboot the machine running the BES.

Just a quick update to say that the KB I originally posted done the trick! Fairly simple in the end
