| Windows admin password change breaks BES Please Login to Remove! Firstly, my most humble apologies if this problem has been posted and solved before, and my search skills have failed to find it. It seems like such a common problem to have, that I can't believe it is not on this forum somewhere.
That said, I have recently taken over as as admin at a company that has 1 BES 5 Express server, running on their 1 Exchange 2003 server. This was set up by an admin who is long gone.
The system was running fine, however, one of my first tasks was to change the Windows domain admin password, even though I told the boss that I did not want to do this until I understood the systems better. He insisted because he was convinced we had had a security breach. ( I disagreed. he pays the bills. he wins.)
Changing the password broke a couple of services on the server I did not expect, ( custom software) and also broke the BES services, as they had been installed as system admin not BESadmin. I changed the password on all the BES services and now the BES starts and runs fine, but I cannot administer it because it does not accept my Windows credentials anymore. (previous admin has not left me the password for the BESadmin account, BTW)
I have restarted the system to see if the BES will pick up the new credentials, but it doesnt.
I am sure that someone has had and solved this problem before, as it seems easy enough to incorrectly install BES as system admin.
Any advice gratefully received. |
