Unhappy User not being added correctly from AD

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to add a user to my BES server that exists in my 2003 AD domain. BES keeps adding the user with a stupid and broken CN, and I have no idea where it's coming up with this bad information. I can add other users from my domain with success, and they are showing up correctly.

Here is what a user SHOULD look like when added ... (this is from the CBCK log) ...

(40018) (06/09 14:04:33.637):{0xD7C} CONFIG COMMAND::Adding user /O=KCH/OU=KCHDOM/cn=Recipients/cn=John.Doe (Doe, John D..47). State is 1. Target: 3 (0) Not init
(30014) (06/09 14:04:33.637):{0xD60} Starting handheld for Doe, John D..47
(30006) (06/09 14:04:33.637):{0xD60} User Doe, John D..47 starting up...

Here is my broken user who I can't get activated ...

(40018) (06/09 13:55:24.699):{0xD7C} CONFIG COMMAND::Adding user /O=KCH/OU=KCHDOM/cn=Recipients/cn=Rachel.Smith(a) (Jones, Rachail.46). State is 1. Target: 3 (0) Not init
(30014) (06/09 13:55:24.699):{0xD60} Starting handheld for Jones, Rachail.46
(30006) (06/09 13:55:24.699):{0xD60} User Jones, Rachail.46 starting up...

Note the name mis-match? This user was married, and went from Smith to Jones. And yet "Rachel.Smith" is showing up in there. For that matter, why is the email address displaying in the CN field? That is NOT RIGHT.

This user looks like in AD. I have even pulled her up in ADSIedit.msc and checked all the properties. There is NO TRACE of this user's old name ANYWHERE! So where is BES getting this crap? And how can I fix it?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Been banging my head against the wall for hours over this stupid problem.

NOTE: The (a) in the broken CN is actually an AT symbol. This forum picks it up as an email address and tells me that I am not allowed to post URL's until I have 15 posts. :-/ COME ON MAN?!?1?!

Default Re: User not being added correctly from AD

This may have been caused by the dreaded legacyExchangeDN attribute in Active Directory. I have corrected that attribute in AD, and then copied the contents of the old attribute into an "X500" tag on the users email addresses tab in AD (to retain the account under it's stupid name, and keep from breaking the link from Outlook wherever it might be cached that way).

I am hoping this fixes it ... will update my own post later either way.
