we have a BES v5 sp2 and it is importing our contacts from the exchange server. we use these contacts for paging and need them but dont want the BES to pull them in when we add a user. Anyone run into this or know how to turn it off?

BES will sync all contacts of a user to the smartphone and the ones you define in public folders if you enabled it.

is this some thing different?

this is happening when i am creating a user on the BES. i ended up creating a user with a paging alias and spent wasted time figuring out why it didnt work.
