| Exchange 2010 SP1 and Throttling Policies (A cautionary tale) Please Login to Remove! Hello all!
BES 5.0.3 MR1 here.
Yesterday we upgraded our schema for 2010 SP1 and put SP1 on one of our CAS/Hubs. Not the mailboxes, just one of our the CAS/Hubs.
That's when all the fun started.
I was perusing my BES logs about an hour after these steps completed and noticed something - almost all my users had failed to start. On top of that, IEMSTest couldn't load my profile. A check of SQL also showed the LastFwdTime's had stopped updating around the time of the patching.
I'd been down this road before with throttling, so I checked there. Oddly, the default policy had all of the default values again, none of the nulls I'd carefully set. When I checked BES enabled users, though, they had a blank value in the throttling policy field, not even the default policy. Very strange.
So I re-instated the null values in the default policy and applied that policy to all my BES mailboxes. One precautionary BES reboot later and we were in business.
Has anyone else seen this? It was terrifying. |
