Default BES 4 to 5 migration question (new server, different SRP)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Here's the case. Moving from BES 4.1 to 5.0. Using a new server, a new database, the BET (Enterprise Transporter) for user transfer and a new SRP (migration kit). Will I need to reactivate my devices?

The migration via transporter will automatically kick off a new EA on the handheld.
The user doesn't need to do anything. Chances are, they won't even know anything happened at all.

What Penguin said. With the transporter tool, everything is seemless. The users will most likely be unaware of any changes.

Thanks. And what about the CALs? Can I just use the same CALs on the new server?

Correct.

So there's no check on whether CALs are being used in more than one place?

This is not 100% related to this thread but as a assistant Admin in a migration situation of our own from 4.1 to 5.0x I would like to see if I can get pointed in right direction.

In old enviroment our Team could login to BES with Active Directory username and password and assist users in a limited mode while us Admins were away at night. Going to the new BAS looks like you have to add each person to the BAS, give Junior Heldpesk roles if you want them to assist. My question is can you create one account, call it say Helpdesk and add the users in there and they would authenicate with AD account username and Password? Any thoughts, thanks.

I thought so thanks...basically going to go this route

There is a group called xxx8220;Help Desk representativesxxx8221; which has the Junior Helpdesk Administrator role assigned. We can create the individual Help Desk analysts as users in the BAS with Active Directory authentication, and then add them to the xxx8220;Help Desk representativesxxx8221; group. This will give them the ability to manage basic functions in the BAS
