Default Can not send email from besadmin

I am not sure what I am trying to do is the right way to do this. I have BES running on 2003 and I want to migrate users to BES version 5 running on 2008 Windows. I want to migrate users one at a time. So, I installed BES 5 on 2008 server, created an account called BES5admin (not besadmin, because besadmin already exist). I did follow the documentation to the letter (I think I did). Every time I was asked to do something with besadmin I replaced it with bes5admin and I went. My issue is I can not Activate my BB. During the activation the BB phone sends an activation email message to the BB Infrastructure which forwards the message to the email address this works because I get the email in test mail box. The next step is BB server sends an acknowledgement and encryption information to the BB phone, this is where it fails, I can not send out an email from bes5admin. This is where I am stuck. Help please.

Why on earth did you change accounts? The previous account worked and had all the necessary permissions in Exchange (which is your problem BTW).

Hi,

The reason I used a new account was because I looked at BB documentation and it was talking about all these commands I needed to enter in power shell in Exchange 2010 which could have affected bspadmin account. Please note that I want to keep my 2003 BES intact and move users over to BES 2008 gradually. So, the only option was to create a new account. I have not touch bspadmin account and 2003 BES is working fine. I simply followed BB instructions and substitute bespadmin with bsp5admin. But I am unable to send messages out using that account.

You don't need a new account, you should have used besadmin for the new installation as well.

Is your old BES version 4.1? What is your current Exchange version? Are you upgrading Exchange as well?

Hi,

Well I created a new user because I was concerned to mess up bspadmin. I went over the installation instructions again and I noticed I missed one step. The step had to do with adding bspadmin to AD on the top level and in the security under advanced tap, I need to check box the 'Send' under Decedents. When I did that things started to work. Thanks for you help. Also I deleted the BB device from the old BES server. Those two things did the trick.
