Default Socket from device wont go over proxy

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

I have an http proxy server set up, and I have a "Proxy Mapping" rule in the MDS-CS service which is set to route everything via the proxy - I think.

The MDS browser from the phone works fine, if I goto what is my ip. org, I see the IP address from the proxy server, so thats correct.

However, if I try and open a socket from the blackberry with deviceside=false to force is via BES, it connects out to the destination server from the BES IP, rather than going over the proxy. I have temporarily allowed things going via the firewall - but I need the traffic coming via the proxy server.

I spent 5 hours on the phone with RIM yesterday, speaking to 8 different people and no one seems to know whats going on.

I haven't set up the proxy settings before in BES, so I am not 100% sure I have done everything I need to.

Also, is it possible to route socket connections via HTTP? Or do I need socks or something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ben
