The usability of the new admin console make it less efficient.
I had to modify registry to be able to start BAS services (wtf)
Can't use AD groups anymore i gotta add avery admin user..that s..
Some winwows aren't resizeable..makes it very difficult to manage effectively
etc etc..

There's even a line in the install guide that says: check for error messages in your logs.. LOL the logs are full of errors but if i call RIM, the answer is: they aren't significant..

I felt like that for a long time but learned to make piece and live with all these issues surrounding bes 5.0.3. And if you are not planning to upgrade to exchange2010,sql2008 etc you can run 4.1 just fine for some time more and hopefully new BES will be released. I also miss the part where I could recover dead device and load software configuration from Blackberry Manager itself. Right now you'd need to use desktop manager or use bas and have software assigned to a user. But with faulty OS it is hard to do. Half of the time assigning software even in perfect circumstances will not work. Still miss old 4.1 version but getting used to this one more and more. Problem is that we remember better days and ppl who just start with BES 5.0 they don't know for better. At least in some way better.

From version 5.0.3(?) you now have at least a right mouse button in the WebUI. Dont know how many useless development hours have been invested in this, but, it shows that RIM tried to improve the Interface.

But There are some good point in BES5:
You can manage the server from nearly any Remote browser. This includes the Blackberry browser builtin with OS6.
Of course to be perfect, RIM should have created this as an addon to the native console.

The User Self-Service console is really a thing which makes life easier.

in 5.03 MR2 (MR3 if you need to sync more then 2000 users i believe) you can use the AD sync tool which is part of the enterprise server resource kit. you just create a group in BAS assign roles, software configs, what ever... then schedule the tool to sync on a server.

it is really easy to setup and i just use a scheduled task on a utility server to run it
default run line for the task would be some thins along these lnes depending on where you installed it

main thing is the -execute to make it work proper i believe

I know this thread is a week old, but I couldn't resist. BES 5.0 sucks the big one. The new web interface is clunky at best, and the server is a huge memory hog in comparison to 4.1. No wonder everyone is predicting the death of RIM.

Death of RIM based on BES is funny.
