Default BES 4.0.1.13 Migration to new hardware w/Exchg Upgrde

Please Login to Remove!

I've inherited the job of BESAdmin in our company and so far so good. We are in the midst of migrating from a NT 4.0 domain to an AD 2003/Exchg 2003 domain.

Currently the BES Server 4.0.1.13 is running, and all mailboxes reside on our '03 Server and it is seeing them through the ADC and working flawlessly. So that part is working.

Now, we want to move the BES to new hardware - same v4.0 BES software, same admin account (its been migrated over so there is already an AD account..that is what allows the 2003 mailboxes to be seen..). We have 103 BB users.

How can I do it? From what I have seen on here, and only in reference to older versions of BES - Can I build up the new server, all latest patches, same server-name, logical BES name (what is that?), SRP, kill the services, bring down the old BES, start up the new and it will autopopulate the user list with no new enterprise activaiton required by the users?

Thanks for the help.

Is your configuration database on the BES (MSDE) or on a remote MS SQL server?

According to RIM the version that you are running (4.0.1.13) is a pre-release candidate and therefore not support. We are currently running that version and there are enough issues to write a 500 page book on! We are now upgrading!
