Default Application Error. Please report to support personnel if problem persists

Hi! Hope someone can help. I have just followed the RIM article entitled:

Remove duplicate contact lists or calendars that do not synchronize with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

This involved creating a new policy and applying it to a user. I was able to do this and it fixed the user's problems with address books. However now whenever I go back to Global/Edit properties on our BES 4.1.6 server I get the following error:

Application Error Please report to support personnel if a problem persists

...and it won't open.

At the same time in Event Viewer I can see the following two errors:

PropertyTreeBuilder40::create40ClusterGroup(): ASCL error encountered:


Caught ASCLException with error code [201] and error message [201 - '255-255-

addressbook_merge_tool_allowed_exec ' Property type does not match type on server] ...this is

the name of the entry in in the policy as stated by the article above.

Any ideas what I can do to sort this out. On the SQL side we are running MSDE (not full on


BES still seems to be running OK and seem to be able to add and remove users.

Any help very gratefully received!
