Default Installing apps on passive host

Please Login to Remove!

we have 3rd party apps installed and all working fine on the active node, however if we failover to passive node, we are unable to administer them because we don't have them installed on the passive node.

I created the shared folder on the passive host and connected to the host BAS on this host and tried installing the apps but got the following error.

"The zip file contains information for existing applications. A version in the zip file already exists in the system. The existing application will not be updated"

Any idea how i can install apps on the passive node ?

BES 5.0.3 with HA

If the active node is still running and your share is on the active node, the passive node can (and will) also use this, this works without problem.

You cannot have the same app in two different shares, there will be a conflict.

To make things even work if the active node is completely down, you should have your apps on a file cluster share independent of the BES nodes.

thanks for this - I will try this, but at the moment, as per my query, if the active (node A) is shutdown, things from Node B will not work. What I have done is copied the shared folder to Node B and I was able to push the apps but not really sure if this is the right way

I like your suggested method, but would be interested to now if what I have done would work to adminster the Apps

As in our situation, we have apps installed on the host BES server, so how would you suggest that I move them to a shared files server location ?
1. create a shared folder on a file server
2. copy all the current 'Shared' folder from the BES Server (where all the apps are installed) and
3. point the application folder path on BAS to this new location.

OR
create the new location area
point BAS to this new area
reinstall each app on this area
and push out to the users again

please advice
