Default Migrate BlackBerry ID to new Exchange/AD account in BESX

Please Login to Remove!

A BlackBerry user at our organization has been using a generic inbox (e.g. support) as a contractor. Now he's been hired on full-time, and has a new, personal AD account and Exchange mailbox (e.g. jsmith). We are not migrating or deactivating the generic account: this is a new, separate inbox.

On BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express 5 connected to Outlook 2010, how would I update the existing BlackBerry ID associated with support to sync with the jsmith inbox instead?

This user does not want to lose his BlackBerry settings (other than the generic account's calendar, contacts, inbox, etc.) and downloaded apps by performing a security wipe and creating a new BlackBerry ID. I would like to eventually create a new BlackBerry ID for another contractor using the support inbox.

Change the AD name on the support account and BES will get the new info.

Then make a new support account after.

BES 5 Express connected to outlook 2010? Please tell me Outlook is not installed on the BES Express server.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, we would like to retain the user profile, emails, contacts, etc. of the support account for the next contractor. Otherwise I would have approached it this way.

Is there a way to re-assign a device to a new AD user without changing the BlackBerry ID and losing apps and settings?

And no, BES and Exchange (sorry, not Outlook) are not sharing a server.

Just activate the existing Blackberry with the new user account. This will not kill any apps or settings. Depending on how your encryption policies are, it could be that the files (multimedia + documents) on the SD card / Device memory cannot be read anymore.

Make a backup of the device beforehand.
