| One of the main issues with the pre-4.0 desktop software on a 4.0 BES system is that most people when they upgrade to BES 4.0 enable 256 AES only for transport encryption. Therefore when the users devices are connected to the 3.6 desktop manager, the only encryption is 3DES and the device is no longer able to communicate with the server. Sometimes you can get around reprovisioning a device with this problem by doing a wireless encryption key re-gen, however it doesn't always work. If you plan on utilizing the desktop manager for the users, make sure you upgrade it along with the handheld.
We continue to use the software, but only for the sys admins and really advanced users...most people just don't need it. |
