BES 10 - BDS Installation query
 

I downloaded the trial version and installed this fine just to see how it works etc.

I am unable to activate a device, i can see the activation email in the users mailbox but BES isnt picking it up. Looking further it seems that a email profile needs to be created - tried creating one to use Exchange and can only see ActiveSync !!

any ideas if anyone has installed ths successfully.

Attached is the image of the option, i expected Messaging etc. so I can configure the Exchange (Username/password/domain) entries.:x

I haven't tried BES10 yet, but does this help?

Hi, BDS only support Active Sync. The activation will not be through a emailn because the BDS will receive the request directly.
Take a look in docs.blackberry.com > administrator > bds > installing and manage bds. You will find info about activation

Maybe I am not understanding this correctly, BDS is replacement for BES (support BB Devices), UDS is for activating iOS etc devices. I was thinking we need to activate a device on BDS for our company as we did under BES 5.0.3. we surely dont need ActiveSycn to activate a BB device on the corporate, do we ?, thought we only need activesync for provisioning onl other devices i.e. iOS

I have read different things so I thought let me try myself :-) ...

What I am doing is trying to activate a BB 9360 (OS 7) setup on BDS with Email Profile which points to the 2007 Exchange Server where the users mailbox resides and not the CAS server. When I activate, the email from network@etp... get to the users mailbox but just sits there.

So still not sure, if these devices will work on BES10 or if I am mising something

Just spoke to friend working for a support company, and we cant activate these older devices on the BDS, this is for newer devices . yuk !!

BDS Works only with BB10 devices and playbooks.

you still need BES 5 for Java devices
