Default Wireless Calendar Sync on 3.6.2.14

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all-

A customer of mine has BES version 3.6.2.14 and they are using it with Small Business Server 2003, which has Exchange 2003 SP2 installed. Since it's install 2 years back they've received email just fine, but their calendars don't wirelessly sync. They use Outlook 2003 SP1 on the client side. Does this version sync calendars wirelessly? I can find any settings for it and don't know how to troubleshoot it or get it going. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Vince

I am not sure whether it is an option in this version, but if it is you can enable it in the desktop manager.

Go to Intellisync>Configure PIM
Highlight Calendar and click choose
If it is an option, click BlackBerry Wireless sync and click ok...
If it is not in the list, you are out of luck.

Default 3.6 and SP2

I believe RIM had a technote on 3.6 and Exchange SP2. I'd update their BES to 3.6 SP7 as if I remember right that will support ExSP2 fully. Exchange 2003 SP2 processes calendar events differently then previous versions.

I'd also check what version CDO is on their exchange and BES .. they should match .. copy the one from exchange onto the BES.

The latest handheld firmware will help too.

What is the CDO you are referring to and what exactly do I need to do? Is it a file in Windows? In this scenario, the BES is on the same box as Exchange. I know this isn't normally recommended, but in our SBS 2003 environment the RIM tech support guy who walked us thru install 3 years ago said it would be fine.

Any help with the CDO deal would be great. is the SP7 a free download?

That is right BES 3.6 SP7 support Exchange 2003 SP2. No older 3.6 release.

Only don't use the CDO from Exchange 2003 SP2 on your BES.

Bob

Thanks Bob. I'll download BES 3.6 SP7 and install it. Should I need to configure anything else besides the Intellisync-PIM to get calendaring to sync after I do this?

No, if it is still on Wireless configured (not Outlook).
