No it should work fine regardless of the particular carrier OS you have installed. Have you gotten a new activation password from your BES admin after upgrading the OS?

Make sure you can send and receive PIN messages from the device. That way you know you at least have cellular coverage, and the problem is in between the BES and the handheld.

I prefer to create my own activation passwords because even after doing countless activations, those random generated passwords are tricky to type right the first time (with Jeff K speed).

In any case, it SHOULD fail after about 15 or 20 minutes. The only time I have seen it totally hang is when the device was not activated on the providers network (long day that day).

Yes i sent a new password like you said then, also even changed the password to something nice and easy. Everything seems setup like the install instructions asked. I did send a test PIN message and it worked also, i have hhad this blackberry for a year now and just trying the 60 day trial of the BES.

I just cant get my handheld to activate. It just sits for 10 minutes longest I have let stay.

What else could i check if the device is added and assigned to a user, sent a new password, changed the password, and pin messaging works?

Thanks!

What carrier are you using? With some carriers you must add another plan to your account for BES to work. Check with your carrier before doing too much else.

Remove the user BES account and re-add it. Set-up a new activation password, re-activate and you should be good to go. I've had to do this a couple of times for some users that switched to 8700 series devices.
