Default Moving BB Icons from BES?? Is it possible?

Please Login to Remove!

I was going through all the manuals I could get from Blackberry, and as far as I know it's not possible, but I may have missed something.

The reason I ask is because (as I'm sure many of you have had to face at one time or another) users who manually lock thier keyboard with the icon occasionally turn off the wireless by accident. It was a really bad move putting the lock icon next to the wireless, and I'd like to move it on all the handhelds I mantain. But I'd have to do this from the BES somehow, as I handle about 400 handhelds in 9 offices across the East Coast.

Anyone have any ideas about this one?

I am not a BES admin, but when I read the manuals I didnt remember seeing anything that would allow you to move icons via policy. If it doesn't exist, you may want to submit it as a feature enhancement.

On 4.1 devices (and I believe 4.0 as well) I'm now seeing a "Ribbon Bar Positions" module initializing during an Enterprise Activation. Anyone aware of a way I can edit that module?

Themes will actually rearrange icons! More and more I'm finding evidence that this is, indeed, possible.

Anyone know more about the development of the OS and applications who can offer a suggestion?

I heard from a recent WES attendee that RIM is working on the ability to add, remove, and order icons on the handheld via policy. Also the ability to force a particular theme. That would be awesome for me. Having one standard theme would simplify documentation.

That is Awsome! Having one standard theme that can be compatible with all devices would be just outstanding. Anyone know if this will apply to those awful 7100's from cingular? I absolutly hate their list format. They are the only ones that have a list standard with no other icon themes available. I know that you can download and install themes by upgrading those devices to 4.1, but we just upgraded them all to the latest 4.0.xx. I really dont want to do it again.

I know what you mean cos it is a PITA, but every time I see a 7100 in our co, I grab it, check the 'about' and if it's not yet on 4.1 then I drop it onto a machin to upgrade to 7100 - getting the same icons onto it as the 8700 is a real result in my book.
