I'm currently on 4.0 Service Pack 1 and I'm trying to upgrade to service pack 3.

I already stopped the Lotus Domino console and stopped the Blackberry services.

Now when i click on the SP3 executable file it starts to extract te contents and run the update but it fails and states Database Data upgrade failed. Blackberry Enterprise Server will now terminate.

Not sure whats causing this. Does anybody have any advice?

i think you have to shutdown/pause/stop your database too (lotus console and services are not the database)

either its the SQL server or the MSDS (free database engine included with the BES installation) running on the BES

please note the "i think" at the start of my reply, since i never touched a lotus domino

umm, stopping the SQL processes would likely cause an installation to end even more abruptly than the error above. The installation should stop BES services for you, so there should be no need to do that yourself. You may want to check and verify that you're logged in using the correct service account user.

have you another BES running on the same sql database and didn't stop this one?

Also make sure that you are using the correct login and password if you are doing SQL authentication.
