Default s/mime and password issues

Please Login to Remove!

Users forgets password on 7290 with s/mime and certs loaded.

It appears if you have s/mime loaded and certs and forget your password admins can't change passwords from the bes admin tool.
The handheld gets a message "There may be protected data on this handeld. Enter your current password to accept over the air password or cancel to reject"
Multiple handehelds get this message, all have content protect off in IT policy and on the handheld are set to disable for content protect.

Sort of defeats the purpose of trying to change the password, don't you think. You can kill it though.

hmmm, any thoughts of another policy setting that could be causing this?

I believe that is by design. The only way to reset the password is to wipe it. If the user *only* forgets the key store password, I think that can be solved by uninstalling/reinstalling the S/MIME component.
