Just FYI, it only registers the version if a) your BES is 4.0+ -and- b) your users' handhelds are 4.0+ and have completed an Enterprise Activation. If your BES is 4.0+ and some of the users aren't showing up, ask them to do the following:
- Go to Messages
- Click on the trackwheel and choose Compose Email
- For To:, put your (you) Email address
- Scroll to the Body and type "myver" (without the quotations) and push Enter or the Space Bar
The above should automatically convert "myver" to something like 7100/188.8.131.526. Tell them to continue on through the process and send you the email. This is a little more precise than doing a Help > About or having to call them or walk over to them, imo. Of course, there is room for user-error, as well.
