If you're on a BES (enterprise server) then your corporate email is handled or redirected by the corporate BES. Therefore all mail addressed to your corporate account (email@example.com) will be sent to your corporate mail servers for eventual redirection to your device by the corporate BES server.
If you created an additional account (firstname.lastname@example.org), then this mail will not "go through" your corporate messaging infrastructure. This particular internet account is assigned to your device's PIN/IMEI number.
External mail will only go to your corporate account if you've done some sort of forwarding to your corporate email address.
With respect to viewing "private messages", the BES admin is not able to view any mail on the BES. The BES is simply a traffic cop in principle. It does not store messages.
