Default polling is 20 seconds, recently I've noticed that it's not polling/updating the handhelds/mailboxes that frequently anymore.

We're running 4.0 with the latest service pack 3 and all hotfixes on this production machine, 111 users, Domino 6.5.1 server.

I tried switching the mailbox polling to 15 seconds, and even higher to 60 seconds, still seems to take hours before a deletion occurs on the handheld to be passed to the mailbox and vice versa.

i saw some posts about state database pruning, thing is we've not changed anything, only been adding more and more users.

it's running a MSDE database I believe, and we're working on the 4.1 to get it setup with our DB2 and migrate to that, but I'm not sure if the MSDE has an issue or not? I've heard its been good for 300 users or so.

Any ideas why it takes so long for deletions/read/unread to update between handheld and mailbox?

I'm pretty sure your MSDE is the bottleneck here. Since it can only have 2 (or 4 or, well, below 10) connections to the DB at the same time

You should see an improvement if your switch to a real database engine

cool, thats what I figured, it seems like the MSDE is the bottleneck, the machine is a quad processor with plenty of ram and hd space, so its not running out of room or anything, hopefully the DB2 migration wont be as hard as our test server is.
