Default Attachment problem since SP4 upgrade - 04-07-2006, 09:48 AM

Hi,

I hope someone might be able to help with a problem we've experienced since upgrading to BES 4.0.4 for Domino.
Everything at first seemed fine with the upgrade but I have found that attachments are not being received on handhelds.
The attachment service is running and there are no errors in the event log.
I have noticed the following error when the Domino server starts:

EXT.API "BBAttachBESExtension": BBAttachBESExtension.dll was loaded successfully
EXT.API "BBAttachBESExtension": call to LoadDLL failed
EXT.API "BBAttachBESExtension": some or all of the required functions are not present, or other problem with the module. Extension will not be operational.

I have a single BES on WS2003 with approx 100 users

I thought I might be able to reinstall the attachment service via Add/Remove Programs but this is not an available option.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

From the command prompt try
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\BBAttach\bbattachserver -u

reboot

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\BBAttach\bbattachserver -i 1900 1999 3 32

reboot

I've also just tried reinstalling bbattachserver but unfortunately it hasn't resolved the problem. The same error appears when Domino starts.
I've had a support case raised with Vodafone UK since Friday but no advice to fix the problem so far..

i've been given this today.... but i havent tried it yet ...

I would initially try a repair as it looks like that a DLL has failed. If user applies their current Service Pack and selects Repair, see if this resolves the loading of the service, this would be my first choice.
If this does not work, I would then move onto the following Knowledge Base article that will see an update of the Parser.
This article does appear to be written for Exchange but is applicable to Domino.

Problem resolved!

Applying SP4 HF1 fixed the problem.
No error message when Domino starts and successfully opened attachment on Blackberry.

Yeah, checkout the release notes for SP4 HF1 and HF2... a lot of attachment improvements.
