I have been told that Japanese Characters will display on handheld devices with firmware 4.1 or above (So only 8700 at the moment) and the BES must be v4 sp 2 or higher.

I upgraded our BES to SP4 at the weekend and have tested Japanese characters on the 8700 but we still gets dotsinstead of Japanese characters!

Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks Mark

Does the device have Japanese language support installed? If not, you can download the CSL (or another Asian provider) software that has the option. Its available for the 7100, 7290 and 8700 with OS 4.1.
