We have 1 BES ( v4.0) and 6 Exchange Servers (v5.5). We are experiencing "Hung Threads" and it seems to be ALWAYS Agent 2 - and ALWAYS the same Exchange Server. Logs, event viewer tell us nothing. The Exchange Server is running fine as is the BES. Anyone know how to manipulate the agents to redirect them to another server (for troubleshooting purposes)? Since we have 5 SQL agents (running on dedicated SQL Server) and 6 mail servers, can we increase the number of agents and how?
Therefore 2 questions..
1) can we redirect the agent assignments?
2) can we increase the number of agents.
Thank you.

You will probably get an answer in this forum but you would have a higher likelyhood of the best person seeing it sooner in the proper forum:BES Admin Corner
I was playing around with our test server to do something similar. I was snooping around in the registry and trying to change some values. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents". They might help you. It didn't work for me though.
Thank you bbgurl171. Would rather not mess with the registry yet. We are a Gov't installation and BB is critical here. Have to be real careful what we do.
Unfortunately you can not have more than 5 mail agents with BES version 4.0. However, if you upgrade to 4.1 then you can have the 5 dynamically assigned mail agents and you can create up to 199 more mail agents and statically assign users to an agent. We had the same issue as you are having. Once we upgraded to 4.1 and I segmented each exchange server(we have 13 with a total of 959 users), the problems have gone away. Once in awhile an agent will be restarted due to health check failures but we never have agents fail completely.
Thank you jgroh9 - I think we will hold off on 4.1 - I have heard of MDS issues with it and since we are Gov't facility with 880 users, we are waiting to see what bugs come up and get resolved. Thanks again.
