Default 4.1 upgrade - SRP Settings blank and grey - 04-27-2006, 03:25 AM

I've been digging around for a while - apologies if I missed this being asked/answered elsewhere.

Problemo - Upgrading my BES from 4.0 (domino on w2k3) to 4.1 I've got to the stage labelled "SRP Setting" but cant progress any further since all the fields are grey, but they are all empty. I can't input the appropriate info therefore I can't continue the install...Bizarrely, this was an inplace upgrade so I would have expected all that info to come across anyway.

Has anyone seen this before and if so, how do I rectify.

Thanks y'all

Default SQL in a domain - 04-28-2006, 04:13 PM

Is your SQL server in a domain that can be reached by the BES server? One thing that we found out is that after 4.1 reboots it must have NT authentication ability to the SQL server. One indication that it can't find the SQL server is that the SRP information for the server already there is not found.

Unhappy It all went wrong... - 05-01-2006, 12:55 AM

Thanks fot the response - you may have been onto something there, although it SHOULD have all been ok. I couldn't have my server down any longer....

I ended up having to reinstall BES from scratch - I just couldn't convince it that the MSDE install I already had was good. I ended up having to point it off to an SQL server and have in remake everything. For licenses and stuff that's no big deal - but of course the users were a different matter.

Somehow - and i still dont know how - the correlation between "user" and "PIN" got completely messed up. The blackberryprofiles database was still there but boy was it messed up. As were the state databases. I ended up having to remove all of the users, shutdown the domino server. delete the blackberryprofiles and all the BES\state files and then restart the server. That automatically remade the files, then I had to go back around and re-add the users. Thankfully I've only got 30 or so.

I just wish I knew what got screwed up - something with the existing MSDE databases holding the server config clearly wasn't good. That caused me to do the SQL install, and then perhaps something else fugged the Domino/BES databases. Maybe I just got lucky with my initial BES 4.0/MSDE install!

I think I like MSDE less that I like SQL

Default Msde? - 05-02-2006, 11:12 PM

Sounds like it couldn't find a good MSDE database. I think you will be happier with SQL.
