Default Managing Two Bes Servers from one Admin Console on a remote workstation - 04-27-2006, 01:41 PM

Sorry I'm a newbie but we support blackberries for a large insurance comapny.

Our support group supports the desktop manager portion, no server admin.

However we are provided with the BES management console in order to confirm users are setup properly on BES. We have full access in the console enough to add/remove users, import servers etc...

The problem is I work for a corporation with many companies. Each company runs there own BES server. I'd like to administer two companies form one workstation (not neccessarily the same console but from the same windows profile)

More problems

I primarily manage company A, company A runs BES 4.0 server. and sqldatabase with sqlauthentication. I have a mapi profile that has full access.

I'd like from the same workstation to manage company B, company B runs BES version 3.6 and uses windows trusted authentication, my mapi profile has full access (same as above) and I log on to that domain. in b oth situation sso my domain account should have access (it did on my other PC)

Is what I'm asking possible? If I'm not describing properly ask me questions I'll do my best to answer.

More details

company A, server name ServerA, database name besmgmt
company b, server name ServerB, database name besmgmt

Another Edit:

I was told Bes 4.0 console is backwards compatible with 3.6 and I should be able to view a 3.6 server on 4.0 I don't know if this is true and is my likely problem.

Woops another edit:

We run in an exchange environement for both companies.

Ok another Edit the more info the better right:

Both companies are on seperate domains but the domains have a trust relationship.

Technically it may be possible to reconfigure the BB Manager on the fly, but you cannot have a connection to two different databases at the same time, so therefore you cannot manage both at the exact same time.

You would have to switch which database you are connecting to, the authentication type, and the ODBC connections.

Not saying this will work for sure, but it is a possibility.

I've tried creating Authoring the MMC snapin and configured each icon to the respective database I can connect to Server A as usual but not B.

I tried creating a new System DSN for server B in odbcad32 however I do not know how to make the console look at it.

You could try a Virtual Machine product

Cheers
