Default can't complete EA 'sync' w/8700 on 4.0.3.7 - 04-28-2006, 09:58 AM

Hello, I am new to these forums. I am also new to BES admin, so please bear with me. I searched the forums, but couldn't find this question/answer.

I just took over admining a BES 4.0.3.7, which was installed before the 8700 was out. Now some of our users (me, and the bosses :o ) have new 8700. I try to complete Enterprise Activation, and although it syncs up 90% and can sucessfully transfer emails and calendar, some things never get past the 'initialization' phase. Stuff like 'mail filters'. Then, the addresses and tasks are not synced on these units, and the icon for EA never goes away (because its not 100% i assume)

I tried "copying and registering" the CDO.DLL from the exchange folder to the WINDOWS\system32 folder. (Registered it to the exchange location.)

Both BES and Exchange 2K3 are running on SBS2003.

Please advise.

~Matt

I have been told by RIM to do a security wipe of the 8700 devices before you even try to run the EA.

No, on the BlackBerry.
  1. From the Home screen, select Settings, then Options.
  2. Now select Security Options, then General Settings.
  3. Press the scroll wheel (doesn't matter what is highlighted), and select Wipe Handheld.
  4. Scroll up to highlight Continue, press scroll wheel.
  5. Key in 'blackberry' to confirm you want to perform the security wipe. This entry is case sensitive.
  6. The BlackBerry will power cycle and display a spinning hourglass for 30-60 seconds.
  7. When you see the Home screen again, turn on wireless radio and reactivate BlackBerry.

Also, when you get stuck at 90%, you can also just take the battery out and have it go at it again.

It was strange, but it works.

Upgrade to 4.0.4 to resolve any long term issues or just security wipe.

I've removed the Battery, the desksync service book, wiped it, my 8700 keeps getting stuck at 90%....
I'm on a Notes BES, have a few 8700's that are not giving me that problem....
thanks
Hanni
