Default Just installed BES. Now what? - 04-30-2006, 09:02 PM

Hello all,
I loaded a new server today with a fresh copy of Server 2003 and BES 3.6. I followed the manual to a "T". All seems to have gone well. But now I ask, now what?
The little computer screen for the activated server is yellow, the PIN's that were added have now disappeared. And most importantly no email on the BB's. (I do not have enterprise yet so this is an easy one.
What are my next steps. The book seems to have forgotten to mention this.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Check to ensure that the BES server has an SRP connection to the BlackBerry Infrastructure at RIM. The "little computer screen" should be green. Have you been able to get a successful response from the BBSrptest?
Do you have a valid SRP ID and Authenticatioin Key?
Have you looked at the Services applet on the server to see if all the BES-related services are running?
Have you looked at the Event Viewer applet on the server to see if there are any errors showing? If so, for which services?
Once you have the "green" symbol, add some users to the BES server by using the BES management console. There's no need to add the PIN numbers.
Have a look at administration guide in the Docs\ directory of the BES server software (if you extracted the install files). It describes "How-to add users, assign devices...etc".

open port 3101 on the firewall, both ways. This is probably stopping communication to/from the SRP (this is the RIM infrastructure that receives the messages sent from the BES and forwards onto the mobile network that the hand-held is connected too (well more or less))
