Default BES Error Event ID 10249 - 05-03-2006, 10:21 PM

Hey all,

I'm running BES 4.0 Sp4 (no hotfixes) and SQL 2000 with multiple BES servers accessing one Besmgmt database - we're seeing the following error in the event logs very frequently and launching BES Manager is slow:

-
CheckDB: COM Error 0x80004005 - Unspecified error - Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" - Description "Transaction (Process ID 77) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction." - Command ""
-

I found KB-03711 on RIM's support site, but it just says to install the latest service pack. I suspect the SQL server is unable to service all the requests and may not have been scaled properly.

Anyhow, has anyone seen this message before on their servers, or know how to fix it?

Thanks.

RIM suggested we install BES 4.0 Sp4 hotfix 3 to fix this issue - will try, and get back to everyone on the results shortly.

Thanks.

This SDR is hammering the database and causing deadlocks.

BlackBerry Messaging Agent
*SDR 83329 Previously, if you selected the Override Address check box, the BlackBerry Messaging Agent updated the configuration database
once every minute.

I no longer have the SQL deadlock issue after applying the latest hotfix; hope this helps anyone experiencing the same issue.

I also had this issue, check your versions of MDAC make sure they are all equal. IE SQL and BES are running the same versions as well. We definitely had to also upgrade the BES code but we found that this was making the issue worse as well.
