I did a 3.6 cut-over to new hardware then inplace upgrade to 4.1. Not too painful. I started by doing a inplace upgrade to 4.1 on same server but could not get the install source to install on the server.

1. Install new server (any NetBios name) with similar OS, Patch level
2a. Stop BES services and disable on production server
2b. Install BES same release, use same instance name (typically servername) as production. same SRP
3. Backup database from production 3.6 server, copy to new server (we used MSDE)
4. Restore production databse on new server
5. Start new server up.
6. Run Upgrade of software on new server and wait...

If you need more details, I can pull out my notes. That's just off the top of my head.

Hi, i did some upgrades lately..but i got an error...error upgrading database..

Whats the best way to do this..

I removed the database msde 7 manually then installed msde 8. Then upgrade the blackberry software....(which i think it doesnt work)

Upgrading the database wont support msde 8 on bes 3.6
