Default i dont find navigating mds logs in bes41 - 05-04-2006, 05:46 AM

Hello,

When a handheld device navigates throw my BES Server (MDS Connection Service) i want to see the logs of what pages are accessed.

I would swear that i saw them in bes 4.0 but now i dont find that log files, or i find log files without that information...

What should i do for it? Anobody could help?

Thanks,
Ender

PD - the logs i have seen are: "web_log0" and "web_access_logDATE"
i have tried the "Verbose HTTP logging" without success...

Most of the time your BlackBerry users browse with your corporate Proxy server, who has - normaly - all the loggings you like.

Bob

Default we dont use proxy - 05-04-2006, 10:59 AM

mmm my blackberry users navigate throw BES MDS, and the BES Server ask for the pages directly to internet, not throw any other proxy...

The BES is acting like a proxy and i would swear that before, in 4.0 version, i saw that logs...

BlackBerry Manager > BlackBerry Domain > Servers > SERVERNAME > Connection Service > Edit Properties > Logs > HTTP logging enabled > True

It's turned off by default, whereas in 4.0, it was enabled. After you enable it, the service does not have to be restarted.

Code:
<2006-05-04 23:50:36.903 EDT>:[4101]:<MDS-CS_TESTBES1>:<DEBUG>:<LAYER = IPPP, HANDLER = HTTP, DEVICEPIN = u1, URL = http://wap.blackberryforums.com/ : SKIPPED IMGS 0 total size 0.0K, SENT IMGS 3, UPDATED IMGS 0, SKIPPED JS 0 total size 0.0K, SENT JS 0, UPDATED JS 0, SKIPPED CSS 0 total size 0.0K, SENT CSS 1, UPDATED CSS 0>
Verbose HTTP logging is another - it will also capture the body rather than just the HTTP headers. If you are just wanting to capture the URLs, then go with the HTTP logging. Either one will likely cause a substantial increase in file size than with it disabled, so keep that in mind - and keep an eye on it over the first few days.

Hello Jibi!

That property was set to true, and the file that i find is:

SERVER_web_access_logDATE

in the folder logs\webserver in the BES installation folder...

In that folder i only see logs of the pushes we make, lines like:
IP DATE "POST /push?DESTINATION=email...

I want to find the logs you said in your post.... where are them?

Thanks!!
Ender

Look in the normal BES logs for the MDAT log file.

The normal MDAT log file is full of lines like this...

---------
<2006-05-10 00:15:03.843 CEST>:[1114]:<MDS-CS_BES4>:<ERROR>:<net.rim.ippp.a.b.g.m.gu: Connection Timed Out>
<2006-05-10 00:15:03.843 CEST>:[1114]:<MDS-CS_BES4>:<ERROR>:<at net.rim.ippp.a.b.g.m.D.dC.a(Unknown Source)>
<2006-05-10 00:15:03.843 CEST>:[1114]:<MDS-CS_BES4>:<ERROR>:<at net.rim.ippp.a.b.g.m.D.dC.run(Unknown Source)>
---------

Is that normal?
There are not the navigating logs in the file... :-S
