Default BES 4.0 Wireless Installs - Specifics

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, maybe I'm just insane, but, if I setup a wireless app install I don't want to just sit around and wait for the sometime, anytime, whenever it feels like it, the app will show up on the device. Yes I have gotten wireless installs to work, but does anyone know what triggers them? I resend service books, restart device, blah blah, can not ever pinpoint what does it. By the time I give up the app decides to show up on the devices, I just don't get it. There needs to be a button that says "PUSH APP RIGHT NOW!"

Seriously, if anyone has specifics on this, or if I've missed something in the documentation please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Shawn

I've been wanting this as well. Last I heard it was "pending for a future release".

Best I can say is to update the status and if it says "Upgrade Required" or "Install Required", then it should upload it. If it says "Up to Date", and the software is installed on the handheld, then you're good.

Don't misinterpret this because it is in jest

That's very NOT true as much as your statement makes sense. All the status really does is tell you if it has installed the software, just because it knows it needs to does not mean it will right now. I had some apps I was testing that I just gave up on and went to bed only to find they finally showed up sometime, randomly, no rhyme or reason.

So, if this is something anyone is going to test be sure not to get your hopes up that you'll know if you did it right instantly.

That's why I said

"...then it should upload it..."

and not

"...then it will upload it..."

;)

Next time I talk to RIM I will ask what the update time is for software management.

Awww man you didn't think I actually paid attention to what you said did you?

I've been so used to vague assumptions while testing and admining this 4.0 server I'm not sure I can understand anything that is actually specific anymore :D

Thanks for checking in on it, not sure they will be able to tell ya though

Just got off the phone with one of their techs. Should have an answer back later today or tomorrow morning. They are discussing upgrades to it in a meeting today or something.
