Default Excessive Disk Usage? - 06-05-2006, 04:50 PM

Has anyone else seen issues with excessive disk queuing on their mail server(s) when BES is running???

We have 280 users on clustered Lotus Notes servers (failover config). BES runs w/150 users on a seprate box, but when it's running the disk queueing on our Primary mail server goes from 1-2 to 4-12. Our mail disk systems are 10 SATA Disks in RAID 5 array on an EMC SAN unit. I can't believe that BES would beat up the disk like that. Anyone have experience with something like this?

what version of BES? there is a known issue in one of the SPs (SP3, i believe) that causes the BlackBerry Agent logs to grow and grow and grow. that'd be the only reason that i could think of - might want to try to identify the problematic files that are growing.

transaction logs, if the database is kept on the same server/array, could be the problem as well.

Running BES 4.1. It's not that files are growing it's that the mail server's disk activity/contention goes through the roof when BES is polling my mail server. Also before anyone says it yes we have adjusted the polling interval, increasing it just makes the disk activity more intense at fewer intervals.
