Default BES not synchronizing contacts

Please Login to Remove!

Hello this is my first post in the blackberry forum.

Anyways we have a client who is running the latest version of the Blackberry Enterprise Server on a Windows 2003 Server running Exchange 2003. However it seems after being up for several months that contacts are not wirelessly synchronizing between the blackberrys and contacts in outlook. Email however appears fine as well as the calendar, but why would this only happen in contacts? It appears to be happening on several users.

Go to their address book on the BB, wheel click, options, wireless sync set to Yes will fix the problem more than likely.

We have this problem alot. Many options here.
1. Do enterprise activation again
2. go on the server and set contact sync to unidirectional then back to bidirectional

1. Doing enterprise activation, would require me to go to each blackberry and client and activate again, if Im not mistaken, though I could be wrong. There are about 15 clients, many of which are not in the office.

2. Would doing the second option cause duplicate contacts by any chance on individuals blackberrys?

What is the version of the emsmdb32.dll file on the BES? If you are running 6.5.7226.0 you could have a memory leak that could affect the Contacts on the handheld. You will also see ERR_RESOURCE_ALLOC in the application log if you do have the memory leak.

If you do, you could contact MS to get the Patch for that version OR you can upgrade the BES to 4.0.4 HF3, and download and install SP2 for Exchange 2003 on the BES and this will update the file to 6.5.7638.x

Cheers,
Ash
