Relevant data:

BES Express 4.1 for Lotus Domino -

Trying to install on a Dell PowerEdge 2800
Processor: Intel XEON 3.00 GHz
Memory: 4 GB of DDR RAM
C:\ drive (where Windows is installed) has 8 GB of free space
D:\ drive (where Domino is installed) has 32 GB of free space

OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, SP1

Lotus Domino version 7.0.1

System specs, Operating system, and Lotus Domino version all meet or exceed requirements. All Windows Server 2003 service pack and Windows Updates have been applied. Sun Java is up-to-date. MSDE is installed.

Issue:

I unpack the downloaded ZIP file, and then double click on Setup.exe

Hour glass for a few seconds, then nothing happens.

Later (20 to 30 minutes later) an error screen appears which states:
"rPIPTool MFC Application encountered a problem and needed to close"

Server's event log lists (under Application Logs):

Event ID: 1000
Description: Faulting application Setup.exe, version 1.0.0.1, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.1830, fault address 0x0001f582


Is anyone else having this problem?

I can't find much help and am very eager to get BES Express 4.1 up and running.

But it's pretty frustrating when I can't get past Step #1 - Launch Setup.exe

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks ashworth. I did see that post, but their solution (click on setup.exe 20, 30, 200 times) doesn't sound right.

Not saying that I won't eventually get desperate enough to try it, but for right now I was hoping to find a real fix.

But thanks again anyway.

Have you tired running the setup.exe on any other computer to see if you get the same error? You donxxx8217;t need to install the software just to see if you are able to reproduce the problem?

This is my only server. I might be able to set up a temp W2K server, but that will take some doing.

I had the same nightmare but found a fix:

I used several ip-addresses on the server-nic and reduced them to only one(!) ip-address. The update runns without any error and you can add the other ips after finishing the setup.
