Default PIN messaging

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

Is there a feature or way for me to send a test PIN message to all of my users under my BES at once (I'm confident they all work but just to make sure for disaster recovery purposes) or is this something I have to do one on one?

Thanks!

Not sure if you can send a PIN message to all devices at once. If the sending of a PIN message can be scripted, it shouldn't be too hard to send one to everyone then.

As an alternate, you may want to use SMS messages instead. You can send SMS messages as email to the device phone number @something.net. Since your sending email, you can use a simple distribution list to send everyone the message at once.

SMS goes through our BES, no? Or am I thinking of something else? Just wondering if this would work if hevaen forbid our building burns down and our servers go with it.

Yes you can send a PIN message to all users. This is called an APB.

Here is a link from RIM's KB:

Along the same lines of disaster recovery, is there a way to contact all of my handhelds if my BES becomes unavailable? Without the BES, my devices won't receive emails, but is there another way I can send a message to them?

I thought about sending a PIN message, but that dependsd on a fully functional BES.

What about METAmessage? They have a PIN Blast function:

Yes they are all right, sending it from the server level but you simply have to customize the message because their BB's will receive a vibration or however you set the Level 1 and if Pins are set up to receive as Level 1 messages.
