Default Data Connection Refused

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
I received a new Blackberry 7250 and it's getting the message 'data connection refused'. I researched the error and troubleshooted a bit, but everyone else's blackberry in the organization is working fine, their is wireless coverage here and their doesn't seem to be any communication issues. What else could the problem be?

Thanks.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Package on your account? If so pop the battery and re-seat. If not call your carrier.

Wink

There are two common reasons for the "Data Connection Refused" message:

1) Your handset is not programmed correctly. In this instance, the data support group for your carrier should be able to walk you through reprogramming the device.

2) Your account is not appropriately provisioned for data access. In this instance, the data support group for your carrier should be able to identify and correct the provisioning problem.

Regardless, finch is absolutely right ... try popping the battery to see if that corrects the problem (a great first step for most BB troubleshooting issues) and then phone your provider for assistance.

Hello,
Thanks for your responses. I did try popping the battery with no luck. So now I have placed a call into my carrier and I will see what they have to say.

@black7777

This usually means that your SIM card is not provisioned in the HLR of the wireless operator to use blackberry.net APN of the wireless network.

Default From RIM's web site

Problem

The following error appears on the BlackBerry device:

Data Connection Refused
Summary of Causes

There are two possible causes for this problem:

1. The device is roaming in an area without wireless coverage.
2. The wireless network is experiencing communication issues.

Cause 1

If the network status indicator displays gprs, nxtl, 1x or mike, the area does not have wireless network coverage.
Resolution

Reset the device by removing and re-inserting the battery. This establishes a connection with the wireless network again. For more information about resetting the device, see KB-02141.
Cause 2

There are communication issues with the wireless network.
Resolution

Contact your service provider for more information regarding the wireless network communication.
