We moved our BES database from the MSDE2000 to a dedicated SQL2000 server today and everything is working fine. Main reason for moving to SQL was the number of users (340 and counting) and so the database will get backed up automatically (rather than my remembering to do it manually...which doesn't work so well).

First - what are the other advantages I should see by doing this? This might sound like a lame question, but my reasons for moving are above, and I just am curious what else I should notice.

Also, there is a BB KB article about manually increasing the mail agent limitation after moving to SQL. Is this something I SHOULD do, or just a recommendation (this BES is connected to 2 local Exchange 2003 servers).

I just moved my database as well to SQL. I get a little bit of a delay now with a bunch of CDO errors in my event log. I had to run out of town for an emergency, but returning tommorow to trouble shoot some more on the issue. Anyone have any tippers? Don't mean to barge into your thread, I am just courious of other problems.

I have noticed that some things run faster than they have before - like the BES Management console and the Handheld Config tool open a lot faster. Also, anything using MDS on my handheld seems to run a little faster, and email seems to be faster, too.

Can I have the steps to perform the move database from MSDE to SQL ?

Can you please post or send the instructions for this procedure? We're about to do this and your help would greatly be appreciated.

I following the instructions found in RIM's knowledgebase article KB03112.

I know I ran into a small issue, but don't remember what it was. Fortunately my company has T-Support from RIM, so I was able to get the issue resolved very quickly.
