I was checking my backups and I noticed a increase in my backup size of 20 gig in the last two weeks. At first I thought it was an end user but then I checked my Blackberry server and low and behold my Blackberry log (BLACKBERRY_ALRT_01) is going crazy with 1.5 gigs of logs per day!

The server seems to be running fine and no end user is complaining. I'm copying a log over now so I can at open it up. Any body have any idea what is causing this?

Install SP4. From the Release Notes:

Previously, BlackBerry Alert Service logs might have grown too large to open. The large log files resulted in an increased use of system resources.

Prior to sp4, I shut off the Blackberry alert service.

Thank you, I turned of the Blackbery alert service and that stopped logging. It's state budget season right now so I'll update after that and hopefully that will fix the issue.

you should be able to delete the ALRT log and safely start the Alert service back up, though. that was the short-term workaround to the issue prior to the service pack fix
