Question How many users can you put a 4.0 BES running on Domino?

Please Login to Remove!

How many users have you been able to put on a BES when running on Domino. I'm running Domino 6.5.4 and BES 4.0 (W3K, dual 2.8 Ghz, 4Gb RAM) and the limit seems to be somewhere around 700 users. Anybody else?

Default That's a loaded question.

I can't tell you an exact number on BES 4.0 as we have just started migrations from a BES 2.2 solution. I can tell you that we are expecting to get between 1,100 - 1,500 users on the BES 4.0 solution. Alan is correct regarding the use of a SQL server. I have heard you should use an SQL server for any implementation over 500 users for better performance. Our BES 2.2 solution currently supports over 1,000 users.

Basics on our 4.0 system:
Quad 3 GHz Processors
4GB Memory
Separate SQL 2000 server
Running Attachment service on a separate server to enhance BES performance. The Attachment Service is memory and CPU intensive.
Running MDS on BES

Also take into consideration the ratio of BES to mail servers. The more mail servers you stripe one BES accross, the more of a performance impact you should expect.

With the processing power and memory of your server, I believe you can extend upto 2000 users.
