Just setup BES with all the intructions that RIM provided. I added the device in the BES and it synched, everything is good. I also got this error when I opened Blackberry Manager for this first time:

"failed to open the default message store using the MAPI profile "blackberrymanager" PLease review the log for details. You will not be able to send messages from the Blackberry manager by email."

Now I am able to receive emails, but I cannot reply or send any at all! Is there anything else I have to setup on the blackberry (8700) or the BES? Do I have to setup anything on the BIS account? Was that error the cause of it?

are permissions setup properly ?

From what I recall I have setup the account according to the process mentioned in the install guide. I did exactly what it told me, I dont know why I got that error.

Also another question I had to ask was if NNTP and SMTP had to be installed on the BES along with System Manager? From the guide it did not look like I had to.

I am wondering if I am having the problem that is dicussed in this thread

Where could I find the hotfix mentioned by MS?

According to the posts from the previos thread I made the changes to the send as portion in AD, but I made the changes through the Exchange AD. The changes did not work at all.

I found another thread where itzallgood said that the changes have to be made in AD on the domain controller and not in exchange. Made those changes and now everything is working. I am attaching the thread for others to get more info.

Ok this is weird, sp i setup everything last night and it was working, this morning I tried sending an email and I had the same problem a red x. So I check AD and the BESadmin acc was not there anymore under my username.

I had to go through the process of shutting down the router and then adding the BESadmin, then restarting after 20 mins.

Now why would that happen? Anybody have any clues?

Same problem again, i had to shut down the BES router again and go through the whole process again. This is weird.

I seem to be answering my own queries, either my questions are dumb or its because its already been discussed. Just sad that no one responded to anything I asked except for Kul. But well I found the reason why the BESadmin account was being kicked off my account in AD.

It so happens that I was added to the Domain Admins group. This group is a part of a protected group. So the AD checks to see that the members of this group do not have their security descriptors meddled with. When it does find something wrong, it just resets all the information to the original, thats why the BESadmin account was getting kicked off.
