I am currently running BES 4.1 and Exchange 2003. The BES is using an SQL database located on a separate server. I want to build a new exchange server on new hardware. I will give the exchange server a new computer name and IP address. It will be in the same domain. I will then migrate all of the mailboxes over to the new exchange server. How should I handle the BES portion of this migration? What steps should I take to make sure the BES will work with this new Exchange server?

once the new box is active on the domain, use exchange administrator to grant Besadmin rights to the information store the same way you did with
original exchange server. then all you will have to do after migrating a user sucessfully in exchange is right click and 'reload' from the bes console on that same user.

Sorry to bother. I will be doing the same exact thing. Just wondering when you say give BESadmin rights to the mailbox store, is this done in the Exchange system manager? i.e. browse to the server,mailbox store and right click properties and go to the security tab? And just add Besadmin into there?
