Hi,

Has anybody come across an issue whereby you add a new contact on the BlackBerry device, and then when you carry out the sync, the name is reversed in Lotus Notes and a comma is added.

i.e. Fred Bloggs on Blackberry becomes Bloggs, Fred on Lotus notes.

I have checked all the obvious field mappings for the account and settings on the BB and lotus notes, and all seems fine

If you go into the individual entry in Lotus notes, reselect the format, and then sync again all appears to be fine, but this is not an ideal solution

Is this a case of the names.nsf file being corrupt ?

I've seen this a couple of times now with different clients, but now I'm looking after the BES Admin side, I'd like to find a permanent solution

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Running BES 4.0 with Notes 6.5.1 , sync is wireless by local address box (not shared on server)

This is a known issue and I think RIM will not address at the soonest. If you open the local address book in Domino Designer and take a look at the formula for the "Name" column in the "Contact" view, you will find the code:

If you further take a look at the "Contact" form and locate the field "NameDisplayPref", it is actually taking a value from the "hidden" profile document "DirectoryProfile", and this is the display preference flag.

Default value for field "NameDisplayPref" (combo listbox):-
def:=@GetProfileField("DirectoryProfile";"NameDisp lay");
@If(def="";"1";def)

It appears that the current BES software does not evaluate the "NameDisplayPref" flag and hence you are seeing this discrepency, and I think it is because the program does not browse this profile document to get this flag value, hence the column "Name" actually evaluated to the "ELSE" condition and display the value as "LastName, FirstName" and hence your "Bloggs, Fred".

If anyone here has talked to RIM and is given the SDR and expected service pack which it is addressed, please get us all know here ;)

Hey Karl,

There is nothing you can do other than going into the local address book database and select Tools > Preference and click on the "Update all entries" button for now. Future BES software should peek into the server replica copy of the NAMES.NSF's profile document "DirectoryProfile" and grab the user's preference and the evaluate the "NameDisplayPref" value so that your newly created entries from BlackBerry are displayed correctly.

Anyway, it is not a critical issue... I would say that it is more serious when your newly created entries from BlackBerry cannot even sync to the address book

Let's wait for any SDR and see when this will be addressed in the future codelines...
